About Oregon

Oregon is a very small town located in the state of Missouri. With a population of 1,568 people and just one neighborhood, Oregon is the 306th largest community in Missouri. Oregon has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Unlike some towns , Oregon isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Oregon are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Oregon is a town of managers, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Oregon who work in office and administrative support jobs (11.73%), farm management (8.47%), and management occupations (7.04%).

In addition, many people in Oregon have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

Oregon is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Oregon isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 97.77% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.

As is often the case in a small town, Oregon doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Oregon Information and Demographics

The percentage of adults in Oregon who are college-educated is close to the national average for all communities of 14.96%: 14.99% of the adults in Oregon have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree.

The per capita income in Oregon in 2000 was $16,617, which is middle income relative to Missouri and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $66,468 for a family of four.

The people who call Oregon home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Oregon is White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Oregon include German, English, Irish, and Scotch-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Oregon is English.
