About Middle River

Middle River is a tiny town located in the state of Minnesota. With a population of 887 people and just one neighborhood, Middle River is the 373rd largest community in Minnesota.

When you are in Middle River, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 41.8% of Middle River's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Middle River is a town of sales and office workers, production and manufacturing workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Middle River who work in office and administrative support jobs (13.11%), farm management (8.01%), and sales jobs (8.01%).

You will also find that a lot of people in Middle River work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 10.68% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

One downside of living in Middle River, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 32.38 minutes every day commuting to work.

As is often the case in a small town, Middle River doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Middle River Information and Demographics
