About Hayfield

Hayfield is a very small town located in the state of Minnesota. With a population of 2,534 people and just one neighborhood, Hayfield is the 239th largest community in Minnesota. Hayfield has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Unlike some towns , Hayfield isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Hayfield are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Hayfield is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Hayfield who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.23%), farm management (9.04%), and healthcare (7.55%).

Another important characteristic of Hayfield is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 9.18% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Being a small town, Hayfield does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
