About Grand Meadow

Grand Meadow is a very small town located in the state of Minnesota. With a population of 1,778 people and just one neighborhood, Grand Meadow is the 299th largest community in Minnesota. Grand Meadow has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Grand Meadow is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Grand Meadow is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Grand Meadow who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.15%), sales jobs (7.76%), and healthcare (7.44%).

Another important characteristic of Grand Meadow is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 8.33% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Grand Meadow is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
