About Fosston

Fosston is a very small town located in the state of Minnesota. With a population of 2,846 people and just one neighborhood, Fosston is the 215th largest community in Minnesota. Fosston has a large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Unlike some towns , Fosston isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Fosston are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Fosston is a town of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Fosston who work in office and administrative support jobs (10.89%), sales jobs (10.81%), and healthcare (7.46%).

In addition, many people in Fosston have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 8.12% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Fosston spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 16.75 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.

As is often the case in a small town, Fosston doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
