About Kinder

Kinder is a very small town located in the state of Louisiana. With a population of 2,184 people and just one neighborhood, Kinder is the 198th largest community in Louisiana.

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Kinder is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Kinder is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Kinder who work in food service (9.81%), sales jobs (9.69%), and office and administrative support jobs (8.57%).

Kinder is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Kinder, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 98.94% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

As is often the case in a small town, Kinder doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Kinder Information and Demographics

The rate of college-level education in Kinder is quite a bit lower than the national average among all cities of 14.96%: just 11.87% of people here over 25 have a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree.

The per capita income in Kinder in 2000 was $13,187, which is lower middle income relative to Louisiana, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $52,748 for a family of four.

Kinder is a very ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Kinder home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Kinder is White, followed by African-American. Important ancestries of people in Kinder include French, French Canadian, and Irish.

The most common language spoken in Kinder is English. Some people also speak French.
