Jefferson is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Louisiana. With a population of 11,873 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Jefferson is the 47th largest community in Louisiana.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Jefferson is neither predominently one or the other.
