About Centralia

Centralia is a tiny town located in the state of Kansas. With a population of 849 people and just one neighborhood, Centralia is the 197th largest community in Kansas. Centralia has an unusually large stock of pre-World War II architecture, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

Centralia is a blue-collar town, with 36.3% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 24.7%. Overall, Centralia is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Centralia who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.99%), sales jobs (9.51%), and management occupations (7.49%).

In addition, many people in Centralia have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

A very large number of seniors call Centralia home: people 65 and over are 31.80% of the population. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, this is good place for the over-65 crowd to settle, as many of the town's services and social community are geared to this demographic.

Centralia is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
