About Arbon

Arbon is a tiny town located in the state of Idaho. With a population of 172 people and just one neighborhood, Arbon is the 115th largest community in Idaho.

Arbon is neither predominently blue-collar or white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Arbon is a town of managers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Arbon who work in farm management (32.98%), sales jobs (11.70%), and management occupations (10.64%).

In addition, many people in Arbon have jobs in agriculture, more so than in most other communities in America. As a result, you will see quite a number of farms around town.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 39.33% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Compared to the rest of the country, citizens of Arbon spend much less time in their cars: on average, their commute to work is only 15.37 minutes. This also means that noise and pollution levels in the town are less than they would otherwise be.

As is often the case in a small town, Arbon doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Arbon Information and Demographics

In terms of college education, Arbon is somewhat better educated than the 14.96% who have a 4-year degree or higher in the typical US community: 20.18% of adults 25 and older in the town have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in Arbon in 2000 was $14,344, which is middle income relative to Idaho, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $57,376 for a family of four.
