About Wesley

Wesley is a tiny town located in the state of Iowa. With a population of 847 people and just one neighborhood, Wesley is the 315th largest community in Iowa. Much of the housing stock in Wesley was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.

When you are in Wesley, you'll notice that it is more blue-collar than most other communities in America. 38.0% of Wesley's employed work in blue-collar jobs, while America averages only 24.7% that do. Overall, Wesley is a town of managers, production and manufacturing workers, and sales and office workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Wesley who work in farm management (17.34%), office and administrative support jobs (10.93%), and sales jobs (4.99%).

You will also find that a lot of people in Wesley work in agricultural jobs - much more than in the average community in America. This will be quite apparent if you drive around town, as much of the landscape is dedicated to farms.

A relatively large number of people in Wesley telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 12.11% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Residents of the town have the good fortune of having one of the shortest daily commutes compared to the rest of the country. On average, they spend only 17.25 minutes getting to work every day.

As is often the case in a small town, Wesley doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
