About Waukon

Waukon is a very small city located in the state of Iowa. With a population of 4,191 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Waukon is the 97th largest community in Iowa. Much of the housing stock in Waukon was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic cities in the country.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Waukon is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Waukon is a city of sales and office workers, professionals, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Waukon who work in sales jobs (13.64%), office and administrative support jobs (12.41%), and teaching (9.08%).
