Fairfax is a very small town located in the state of Iowa. With a population of 1,592 people and just one neighborhood, Fairfax is the 240th largest community in Iowa.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Fairfax is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Fairfax is a town of sales and office workers, managers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Fairfax who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.21%), management occupations (10.82%), and sales jobs (9.94%).
Fairfax is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Fairfax isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system.
