Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Epworth is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Epworth is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Epworth who work in office and administrative support jobs (16.47%), farm management (7.46%), and sales jobs (7.29%).

Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 8.51% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

The town's good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Epworth has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Epworth's overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.
Epworth is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
