About Rotonda

Rotonda is a somewhat small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 6,697 people and just one neighborhood, Rotonda is the 294th largest community in Florida.

Rotonda is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 86.12% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Rotonda is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Rotonda who work in sales jobs (18.52%), office and administrative support jobs (13.27%), and food service (9.74%).

A very large number of seniors call Rotonda home: people 65 and over are 45.18% of the population. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, this is good place for the over-65 crowd to settle, as many of the town's services and social community are geared to this demographic.

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Rotonda are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery. This is certainly the case with Rotonda, which has a vibrant tourist economy.

Rotonda is a very car-oriented town. 99.06% of residents commute to work in a private automobile rather than by other means, such as public transit, bicycling, or walking. This is because Rotonda is a small town, and most people who live here have to drive out of town for work, and the town population is not large nor dense enough to support an extensive public transportation system. Rotonda has a lot of rural roads, and houses can be far apart. Many residents drive out of town for regular shopping trips as well.

Rotonda is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
