About Bradenton Beach

Bradenton Beach is a very small coastal city (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 1,484 people and two constituent neighborhoods, Bradenton Beach is the 438th largest community in Florida.

Unlike some cities where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Bradenton Beach is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Bradenton Beach is a city of service providers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Bradenton Beach who work in office and administrative support jobs (17.55%), food service (16.05%), and management occupations (14.56%).

Of important note, Bradenton Beach is also a city of artists. Bradenton Beach has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Bradenton Beach's character.

Bradenton Beach is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the city's population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.

A very large number of seniors call Bradenton Beach home: people 65 and over are 28.37% of the population. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, this is good place for the over-65 crowd to settle, as many of the city's services and social community are geared to this demographic.

One of the nice things about Bradenton Beach is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the city are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

Being a small city, Bradenton Beach does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
