About Alva

Alva is a very small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Florida. With a population of 4,784 people and just one neighborhood, Alva is the 338th largest community in Florida.

Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Alva is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Alva is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Alva who work in office and administrative support jobs (14.86%), sales jobs (10.92%), and management occupations (8.88%).

One of the nice things about Alva is that is it nautical, meaning that parts of the town are somewhat historic and on the ocean, or touch tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Because of this, visitors and locals will often go to these areas to take in the scenery or to enjoy waterfront activities.

One downside of living in Alva, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 34.13 minutes every day commuting to work.

Being a small town, Alva does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.

Alva is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Alva home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Alva is White, followed by African-American. Important ancestries of people in Alva include German, English, Irish, Italian, and Scotch-Irish.

The most common language spoken in Alva is English. Some people also speak Spanish.
