Alva is a very small town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 2,725 people and two associated neighborhoods, Alva is the 352nd largest community in Florida.

Housing costs in Alva are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don't compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Florida.

Also of interest is that Alva has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 10.99% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. Alva has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Alva than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. One downside of living in Alva, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 35.41 minutes every day commuting to work.

As is often the case in a small town, Alva doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

In terms of college education, Alva is somewhat better educated than the 21.84% who have a 4-year degree or higher in the typical US community: 26.32% of adults 25 and older in the town have at least a bachelor's degree.
