Alva is a very small town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 2,818 people and just one neighborhood, Alva is the 334th largest community in Florida.
Occupations and Workforce
Unlike some towns, Alva isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Alva are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Alva is a town of sales and office workers, managers and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Alva who work in management occupations (18.21%), office and administrative support (15.89%) and sales jobs (12.14%).
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 9.59% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Alva has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Alva a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here.
In Alva, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 33.51 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.
Being a small town, Alva does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work.
