About Ward

Ward is a tiny town located in the state of Colorado. With a population of 708 people and just one neighborhood, Ward is the 168th largest community in Colorado.

Unlike some towns , Ward isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Ward are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Ward is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Ward who work in management occupations (15.12%), office and administrative support jobs (14.90%), and architecture and engineering (7.00%).

And if you like science, one thing you'll find is that Ward has lots of scientists living in town - whether they be life scientists, physical scientists (like astronomers), or social scientists (like geographers!). So, if you're scientific-minded, you might like it here too.

Also of interest is that Ward has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Of important note, Ward is also a town of artists. Ward has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Ward's character.

A relatively large number of people in Ward telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 8.18% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Ward is an extremely popular vacation destination. A significant portion of the population is seasonal. During the vacation season, the town experiences a large influx of people who take up residence in second homes they own in the area. As the vacation season ends, the population drops again, leaving behind a substantially quieter and smaller town.

For a small town, there is also a high proportion of single, often educated, people living in Ward. This is not typical for most smaller communities in America, and adds a feeling of vibrancy to Ward.

In addition to being popular with young singles, Ward is also home to many people who can be described as "urban sophisticates." While both of these categories describe educated professionals, urban sophisticates are quite a different demographic. Urban sophisticates are people who are both educated and wealthy, and thus tend to be older, richer, and more established than young professionals. "Urban sophisticates" is not just about being educated and well-off financially: it is a point of view and state of mind, one that you might call 'urbaneness.' But such people can and do regularly live in small towns, suburbs and rural areas, as well as in big cities. They read, support the arts and high-end shops, and love travel.

Because of many things, Ward is a very good place for families to consider. With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Ward really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children. Is Ward perfect? Of course not, and if you like frenetic night life, it will be far from your cup of tea. But overall this is a solid community, with many things to recommend it as a family-friendly place to live.

One downside of living in Ward, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 36.40 minutes every day commuting to work.

As is often the case in a small town, Ward doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
