Seligman is a tiny town located in the state of Arizona. With a population of 962 people and just one neighborhood, Seligman is the 124th largest community in Arizona.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Seligman is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Seligman is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Seligman who work in sales jobs (15.62%), food service (12.60%), and office and administrative support jobs (11.51%).
Seligman is a major vacation destination. Much of the town's population is seasonal: many people own second homes and only live there part-time, during the vacation season. The effect on the local economy is that many of the businesses are dependant on tourist dollars, and may operate only during the high season. As the vacation season ends, Seligman's population drops significantly, such that year-round residents will notice that the city is a much quieter place to live.
As is often the case in a small town, Seligman doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
The education level of Seligman citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 16.60% of adults in Seligman have at least a bachelor's degree.
The per capita income in Seligman in 2000 was $12,596, which is lower middle income relative to Arizona, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $50,384 for a family of four.
Seligman is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Seligman home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Seligman is White, followed by Native American. Seligman also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 14.76% of the town's residents. Important ancestries of people in Seligman include German, English, Irish, French, Swedish, European, and Scotch-Irish.
The most common language spoken in Seligman is English. Some people also speak Spanish.
