Meadview is a tiny town located in the state of Arizona. With a population of 913 people and just one neighborhood, Meadview is the 125th largest community in Arizona.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Meadview is neither predominently one or the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Meadview is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Meadview who work in sales jobs (13.57%), teaching (11.56%), and building maintenance and grounds keeping (11.56%).
Of important note, Meadview is also a town of artists. Meadview has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Meadview's character.
A relatively large number of people in Meadview telecommute to their jobs. Overall, about 9.19% of the workforce works from home. While this may seem like a small number, as a fraction of the total workforce it ranks among the highest in the country. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Meadview is an extremely popular destination for tourists and seasonal residents. So much of the population is seasonal such that the town's population swells significantly during the vacation season, and drops again when the season ends. Because of this, much of the local economy is centered around tourism; some businesses may be operated only during the high season. During the low season, year-round residents will notice that the city is a substantially quieter place to live.
A very large number of seniors call Meadview home: people 65 and over are 34.72% of the population. Because of the prominence of the retirement community, this is good place for the over-65 crowd to settle, as many of the town's services and social community are geared to this demographic.
Meadview is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Meadview, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 97.02% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.
Meadview is a small town, and as such doesn't have a public transit system that people use to get to and from their jobs every day.
The citizens of Meadview have a very low rate of college education: just 8.81% of people over 25 have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree, compared to a national average of 14.96% for all cities.
The per capita income in Meadview in 2000 was $13,026, which is lower middle income relative to Arizona, and low income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $52,104 for a family of four.
The people who call Meadview home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Meadview is White, followed by Native American. Important ancestries of people in Meadview include English, German, Irish, French, Scotch-Irish, Dutch, and Italian.
The most common language spoken in Meadview is English. Some people also speak Spanish.
