Cibola is a tiny town located in the state of Arizona. With a population of 179 people and just one neighborhood, Cibola is the 140th largest community in Arizona.
Unlike some towns , Cibola isn't mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Cibola are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Cibola is a town of managers, service providers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Cibola who work in farm management (27.63%), business and financial occupations (18.42%), and food service (11.84%).
Another important characteristic of Cibola is that a lot of people work in agricultural jobs, especially compared to most other communities in America, and there are quite a number of farms in town.
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their homes - 15.79% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
In Cibola, however, the average commute to work is quite long. On average, people spend 30.23 minutes each day getting to work, which is significantly higher than the national average.
Cibola is very much a car-oriented town. This is because the population of Cibola isn't large enough or dense enough to support an extensive public transit system. It has a lot of rural roads, and the distance between houses can be quite large, which together tends to discourage walking and bicycling to work. 100% of residents commute to work in their own car (and the drive is typically to a job out of town). People also tend to drive out of town for other services as well, such as shopping, doctors appointments, and more.
As is often the case in a small town, Cibola doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.
In Cibola, just 11.51% of people have at least a bachelor's degree, which is quite a bit lower than the national average for cities and towns of 14.96%.
The per capita income in Cibola in 2000 was $15,538, which is middle income relative to Arizona, and lower middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $62,152 for a family of four.
Cibola is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Cibola home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Cibola is White, followed by African-American. Cibola also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 12.85% of the town's residents. Important ancestries of people in Cibola include Irish, Scotch-Irish, English, Swiss, Norwegian, Czech, Dutch, and French Canadian.
The most common language spoken in Cibola is English. Some people also speak Spanish.
