About Creola

Creola is a very small coastal town (ie. on the ocean or tidally-influenced rivers) located in the state of Alabama. With a population of 2,375 people and just one neighborhood, Creola is the 219th largest community in Alabama.

Creola is a blue-collar town, with 44.9% of people working in blue-collar occupations, while the average in America is just 24.7%. Overall, Creola is a town of sales and office workers, construction workers and builders, and production and manufacturing workers. There are especially a lot of people living in Creola who work in office and administrative support jobs (18.57%), sales jobs (9.50%), and management occupations (4.80%).

The town is also nautical, which means that parts of Creola are somewhat historic and bounded by the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and tidal rivers. Such areas are often places that visitors and locals go for waterfront activities or taking in the scenery.

Creola is a small town, and as is often the case with smaller towns, the population isn't large or dense enough to support much in the way of a public transportation system. In fact, there are many rural roads around Creola, which makes walking or biking to and from work a bit difficult. This makes for a very car-oriented town: 99.46% of residents commute to work by private automobile, and people often drive out of town for work, shopping, and other activities.

As is often the case in a small town, Creola doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute.

Creola Information and Demographics

Creola ranks among the bottom of the nation in terms of college education compared to other cities and towns: only 6.34% of people over 25 have a college degree.

The per capita income in Creola in 2000 was $14,707, which is lower middle income relative to Alabama and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $58,828 for a family of four.

Creola is a somewhat ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Creola home come from a variety of different races and ancestries. The most prevalent race in Creola is White, followed by African-American. Important ancestries of people in Creola include Irish, English, and German.

The most common language spoken in Creola is English.
